How to reverse parallel park (Simple Method)












Step 1
Check mirrors and signal left for a minimum 3 seconds before coming to a stop next to the parked car (Blue vehicle)
Park next to the car, approximately 1 metre away, with the side mirrors aligned.
Step 2
Turn the steering wheel 180 degrees to the LEFT until it is upside down.
Look out the rear window over your left shoulder to ensure the parking bay is clear.
Step 3
Select Reverse gear.
Reverse slowly back until the red guideline on the reversing camera is centred on the concrete kerb.


Step 4
Turn the steering wheel fully to the RIGHT (full lock), approximately three complete turns.
Step 5
Slowly continue to reverse back until your car is aligned with the car in front of you.
Step 6
Straighten the steering wheel by turning it 1.5 complete turns to the LEFT.
Select Drive and move forward until your vehicle is positioned 1–2 metres behind the vehicle in front.
Put the vehicle into Park and apply the handbrake (if fitted).
When leaving the park:
If your too close to the vehicle in front - Look back before reversing.
Check mirrors and indicate RIGHT for at least 5 seconds.
Make a head check after activating the turn indicator and immediately before pulling out from the kerb.
