Arrows on traffic lights simplify making turns. If the arrow pointing in your desired direction is red, you must stop. However, if the arrow is green, you may proceed in the indicated direction, provided it is safe to do so.

If there’s no dedicated right-turn arrow or the red arrow disappears, and only a green light is showing, you must move into the intersection and give way to oncoming traffic. Once there’s a break in traffic and it’s safe, you can complete your turn.

You must also give way to any pedestrians crossing the road you are entering.

If you’ve entered the intersection but cannot complete your turn due to a lack of safe gaps, and the light changes from green to yellow or red, the road rules require you to exit the intersection as soon as it’s safe. In this case, ensure that oncoming traffic has stopped before continuing.
